This page has instructions on how to do specific functions within Google Sites. Down below, you will see questions that are commonly asked. Click on a question to open a drop-down menu with an answer to that question.
Be sure to delete this page before your final presentation and make sure all of your text/media is original to you. Your final ePortfolio should not contain pre-set text/media.
Click on the "Publish" button to save and publish your work.
Share with anyone who has the link. You can put your ePortfolio on your LinkedIn or share with others. Make sure the right settings are turned on, so others outside of IU can view it.
Always remember to publish your site or we cannot see your work!
Access your Google Site in editing format
Click on the Sharing Setting icon in the top right hand corner.
Under "General access" use the drop down arrow to have your Published Site "Public" so that anyone on the internet can find and open your ePortfolio. Click "Done."
Once you have set your setting, click "Publish" in the top right to save your changes.
Feel free to delete the text and images on each page when you complete a given section. For example: if you are tasked with the "My Internship" page, delete the text that is already in that section and replace it with your own information. Be sure that you are answering/completing all parts of each section. Additionally, you do not have to keep the same format that is on the page. We want you to be able to use the resources on each page, show examples of media you can add, and see what an ePortfolio looks like when you add media. We suggest replacing the images/graphics with your own media.
In the right navigation, click the "insert" tab.
Then add an image placeholder in one of three ways:
Choose a content block with preset image placeholders and text boxes.
Choose the "placeholder" option. This places one image box on the page.
Choose the "image carousel" option. This places a slide show of images on the page. You will have to upload at least 3 images.
To insert an image, click the circle with a plus sign in the placeholder box. You can upload images in two ways:
Upload directly from your computer.

In the right navigation, click the "themes" tab.
You can choose themes in two ways:
Click one of the themes created by Google. You can change the color and font style in each theme.
Find a Google Sites template and you can upload it with the upload option.
Note: You can also insert images into the banners on each page and edit them directly on the page. You can also change the font color and style directly in the text box.

You can embed in two ways:
In the right navigation bar, click "insert" at the top. Then, click "Embed" at the top.
Double click on your page and five options will appear. Choose the option with the yellow arrows pointing left and right.
Both of these options will lead to a screen that asks for a URL or an embed code. You can embed with either.
Websites will use the URL.
Videos will use a code.
The item that you embedded should pop up on your page.
To move items around your ePortfolio, you will click and hold the item, then drag it to its desired location. You can also copy items by clicking "duplicate" in the bar that pops up above the item after clicking on it.
To resize items, you can click on the item and use the blue circles on the left or right to make it bigger or smaller. You may have to adjust other items to make others bigger.
