This project allowed us to learn how to design and use a 3D printer available at our institute.
The idea was to represent some chemical elements from the periodic table that are found in our mobile phones.
For each of these elements we reported the atomic number and the amount in grams present within the devices. By turning the little cube, its role in the functioning of the phones and the country that holds the largest reserves are indicated.
Rare earth elements are shown in orange, the 3TG and conflict minerals in red. Some of the chemical elements that make mobile phones so high-performing are shown in blue.Â
