The very first project meeting for students and teachers in which IT “G. C. Falco” participated, took place in Krakow, Poland, between 20th and 25th October 2019. It has involved 7 students from different classes of IT “G. C. Falco” (Maria Comparone; Antonio Iannaccone; Manuel Mignogna; Luigi Turco; Raffaele Massaro; Michele Merola and Giuseppe Ciarmiello) and 2 teachers (Mr Alessandro M. T. Pipitone - the Italian coordinator of the project - and Ms Roberta Cacciapuoti).
The programme of the meeting was quite rich. During the days spent in Krakow the students had the opportunity to work on the theme of the project, they participated in workshops on the Renaissance and in field research activities that were also carried out in the form of educational games, together with the Polish, Czech and Hungarian students involved in the partnership. The meeting included a visit of the hosting school, a walking tour of Krakow and a daily trip to two points of interest around the city. The visits organized by the host school within the city of Krakow, saw the direct participation of Polish students, involved as tourist guides, and got the visiting schools to see various significant places, in particular the Krakus Mound, the Jewish ghetto with the remains of the wall, the Plac Bohaterów Getta (Ghetto Heroes Square), the KładkaBernatka (pedestrian bridge), the Jewish quarter of Kazimierz with the synagogues and various monuments, the Wawel Cathedral and the Wawel Castle. The programme also included an excursion to the Wieliczka salt mine, a UNESCO World Heritage site, and the Ojców National Park with Pieskowa Skała castle, one of the best-known examples of defensive Renaissance architectural structure in Poland.
The project has enriched the students from a cultural and human point of view, as it enabled them to improve not only their English but also their relational and social skills. The scheduled activities offered our students the opportunity to work in teams with students from several European countries, to socialise, to share their knowledge and to learn from others. The students involved showed enthusiasm and interest in the new learning challenges they had to face and made the most of the exchange experience. At the end of the meeting, during the farewell party, both the students and the teachers were given a Certificate of Attendance.
