Welcome to the school year, 2019-20.

The Primary School at ISU provides and inquiry based programme for students aged 3-12 years. Our learning spaces are vibrant and engaging, designed to support learning in all its various forms.

I am privileged to be part of a team of dedicated, experienced, high quality teachers, who bring to life the Primary Years Programme. We know that a child's social/emotional development is just as important as academics; that a healthy and active lifestyle is essential to support development. Our programme reflects these beliefs by engaging your child/ren in a range of experiences that allow them to acquire the knowledge, skills and attitudes that are essential for future learning and success.

Our partnership with families is an essential part of supporting your child. We welcome your involvement and there will opportunities to participate in school life in a variety of ways. This may be through field trips, classroom activities or with our Parent Teacher Group (PTG).

Throughout the year we will be offering parent workshops on a variety of themes related to learning and to child development- please let us know if you have a particular interest or area that you would like to know more about.

Communication with parents will be through your child/ren's classroom portal (either Storypark for PreKindergarten or Seesaw for Kindergarten- Grade 5), Managebac, the ISU website and the 'Medee'. Please check these regularly as they will help you to stay up to date with happenings on a school level and, at a more personal level, with your child's day-to-day school life.

We are excited for the year ahead and look forward to working with you.

Maree Raeburn, Head of Primary
