The discussion will highlight approaches to engaging staff and students, balancing continuity with innovation, and embedding themes of global citizenship and well-being. Participants will gain practical ideas and examples to inform literacy initiatives within their own school settings.

Infant Teacher Librarian
Dulwich College (Singapore)
I currently work as the Infant teacher librarian at Dulwich College (Singapore) and am also the Co-Director of Libraries, sharing this position with Jane Hayes (Senior School librarian). We thoroughly enjoy the synergy that this role gives us and strive forward with many exciting projects as we develop our leadership and management skills. Previously, I have worked in International schools in China and Spain as well as starting out as a Primary School teacher in the UK. Living in different countries and cultures led to a degree in Social Anthropology and a lifelong interest in multiculturalism, global citizenship and DEIJ issues. More recently in my new role, I have become more engaged in library advocacy, leading with compassion and change management.
Elementary Teacher Librarian
NIST International School
Laine Palendat is the Elementary Teacher Librarian at NIST International School in Bangkok, where she recently helped design a new purpose-built library. Laine is passionate about libraries as community hubs, inquiry as a way of thinking, and ethical engagement with emerging technologies like AI. When not loudly and passionately talking about books, Laine can usually be found reading about witchcraft and the fall of the patriarchy—sometimes at the same time.
Most automated library systems use z-cataloguing. Let's talk about how we can share our z-sources to save time, access a greater range of records and improve our catalogues
Changing to a new library management system (LMS) is not something librarians take lightly so when we do, careful consideration of all the factors involved is essential. We will take you on the journey we have been on over the past year comparing 3 different LMS in order to find the right one for our school. We will go through the key issues involved when:
Choosing the right LMS for your school community
Navigating the changeover
Evolving the LMS to increase student learning
As generative AI tools become embedded in schools, conversations about “how” to use them often outpace deeper questions about whether we should. This session explores key ethical concerns through both current research and informal action research from personal experimentation. Laine invites librarians to move beyond the narrow frame of academic integrity and advocate for school guidelines that address ethical use for teachers as well as students.
