Course Description
The Iceland experience is focused on exploring a unique environment and culture. During this experience, you will see the urban art scene in Reykjavik and take part in a virtual reality experience of the whole island at Flyover Iceland. You will live the benefits of geothermal energy at the Secret Lagoon hotsprings and hike to the top of the Kerid volcanic crater. We will take the ferry across to the island of Heimay and learn about the dangers of living on a volcanic island and then take hike to look for Puffins. You will also visit the impressive Seljalandsfoss and Skogafoss waterfalls and the Reynisfjara Black Sand beach. For most of this experience we will be staying a remote guesthouse in the South of Iceland which provides the darks skies that are perfect for seeing the Northern Lights.
Pocket money - as all meals are included, pocket money will only be needed if students want to buy snack or souvenirs. The amount depends on each individual family but the idea of the full board package in Iceland is that there is very little need for any additional costs as Iceland is an expensive destination. If students want to buy additional snacks etc. the guide can take them to a local supermarket which is much cheaper than stops along the tourist routes.
Snacks or pocket money will be needed for the last day, as the last meal included is breakfast and students will spend most of the day travelling.
