When is WWW happening and is it mandatory?
Week Without Walls will happen during the academic school week of 15-19 September, 2025 (the length of some trips may be different). Week Without Walls is not a week without school...we are simply moving the educational opportunities outside of the traditional confines of the classroom. The week is considered an integral part of our curriculum and continued pursuit of life-long learning, and therefore all students are expected to participate.
How do we sign up for the programme?
Sign-ups will be via an emailed link or accessible through the WWW website. The sign-up dates for "Week Without Walls" will occur during Jan-Feb, 2025.
How will students be assigned to the different programmes?
We will try our best to give students their number one choice, however, this is unfortunately not always possible. Considerations for placing students includes current grade, gender, subject choices and age.
What if I would like to change the trip I've been assigned to?
In this case, please contact the WWW coordinators Mr. Matt Eames (meames@isp.cz) and Ms. Raina Smith (rsmith@isp.cz) ASAP. If a trip change is requested after bookings have been made, the family will need to carry all the costs that cannot be recovered.
When do we need to pay for the trip?
Invoices will be sent to families in the second half of April, 2025. The payment will be due in two weeks from receipt of the invoice. The school reserves the right to remove students from a trip (at the school's discretion) if the payments are not settled in time. Following up on individual cases will be restrictive and trying to reschedule will be difficult.
Who supervises the WWW programmes?
All specialized trips are run by trained and/or certified service providers who will be accompanied by at least two ISP teachers - chaperones.
Do I need to purchase medical insurance for my child?
The international trips include medical and trip cancellation insurance and have 24/7 ground support throughout the duration of the trip. You are welcome to purchase your own in addition, but there is insurance built into the pricing already. For local trips, your local health insurance will generally cover any unforeseen illness or accident, but again, you are welcome to purchase additional insurance as you see fit.
Does my child require a Visa to travel and how do we get that Visa?
Because we have students from over 60 different nationalities with varying degrees of travel freedom, we ask that all families look into the necessary visa requirements for their excursion destination of choice. PLEASE CONTACT YOUR EMBASSY. The fees associated with Visa procurement are not covered by the trip fees. Visas need to be acquired BEFORE travel, even if they are available at the airport upon arrival. We cannot afford to have anything go wrong at the destination country that forces us to make an unexpected return and jeopardize the student - chaperone ratios.
What if my passport has expired or is expiring soon after travel?
PLEASE CHECK YOU PASSPORT EXPIRY DATE. As a general travel standard, it is recommended that your child's passport should be valid for at least 6 months after the return date of the trip, but the exact remaining validity depends on each country. Please consult the embassy of the country you are going to visit.
What if my child gets sick before the trip?
If your child is unable to attend their trip due to illness, they may be eligible for an insurance claim. To start the process, follow these steps:
1. Obtain a doctor’s note confirming that your child cannot participate.
2. Pay the school invoice as usual.
3. Submit the receipt of payment and the doctor’s note to Adela Pitrova (apitrova@isp.cz), who will process the insurance claim.
