Personal investigations are goals linked to a subject area or the MYP. They might be investigations that you choose to carry out individually rather than as a group through a pitch.
Personal investigations don't have to relate the MYP and you won't plan them with a Learning Guide as you would with a pitched investigation. However, the final product of your personal investigations could be used as evidence of your learning according to the MYP assessment criteria. If you would like to know how the product of your personal investigation might used as part of your MYP assessment, you should speak to the relevant Learning Guide.
*Please note, although you may use evidence from your personal investigations for MYP assessment, you must still take part in at least two pitched investigations for that subject area.
Learning routines show the steps that need to be taken to produce high-quality learning and outcomes, and may help guide you achieve your personal investigations. Most relate directly to a subject area, but some are multi-disciplinary. You should think carefully about what you are trying to achieve before you select a learning routine to follow. These routines are also aligned with MYP criteria, so following them will help you produce work that can count towards your MYP assessment, if you would like to.
