Here is a tool that will help you develop active learning skills:
To be completely successful as an MYP student, and to be properly prepared for success beyond ISH, students are encouraged to be active learners. In other words, the action you take as a student will be the most important factor in your learning, not the action taken by your teachers. You have the responsibility to make sure you get everything you can out of your education.
Active learning has two aspects. The first is being engaged in activities that demand higher level thinking skills and being aware of the process of learning, not just the product. Your teachers will set assessments that will help you do that.
The second aspect of active learning is the set of behaviours that active learners display. These include the following:
participating in class
taking notes
understanding the course curriculum
finding gaps in your own understanding and finding ways to fill those gaps
independent reading and extra practice
innovative study habits
collaborative study
asking for clarification and help
Students who are able to perform at their full potential consistently demonstrate many of these behaviours.
