Enter the virtual world of Jane Austen, an on-line role-playing game set in the virtual world of Regency England and the works of Jane Austen. Unlike many multi-player games, it’s not about kill or be killed but invite or be invited. Gossip is our weapon of choice. Instead of raids, we will have grand balls. Instead of dungeons, we will have dinner parties.
As an exciting example explore "Inanimate Alice" a unique digital novel using trans-media, set in a technology-augmented near-future, telling a story of a young girl who grows up to become a video game designer at the biggest games company in the world. Beginning in China when Alice is eight years old, and told over ten increasingly complex episodes the series follows the journey of Alice and her closest "friend" Brad around the world and towards their final destiny.
The Dewey Decimal Classification (DDC) system is a general knowledge organization tool that is continuously revised to keep pace with knowledge. The system was conceived by Melvil Dewey in 1873 and first published in 1876. The DDC is the most widely used classification system in the world. Libraries in more than 135 countries use the DDC to organize and provide access to their collections. Dewey Decimal System is used in ISE library to organize nonfiction books. Understanding DDS gives students independence to efficiently access information in the library.
Do We Really Know Dewey? This website introduces the DDC system through stories, activities, quizzes and puzzles. This website is organized into different levels, so the further you go, the harder it will become. That way, we hope it will appeal to all ages. The site is created by Nettleton Intermediate Center.
