As you explore any projects from these resources or any other...
1. Choose a project from a source you find above or through your own searching.
2. Carefully consider each of the following items as you look through the project...
- Time: is the primary value so this project can be completed in a timely manner in your school's organizational system?
- Collaboration: will this project require students to work collaboratively and create the need for them to discuss, work with different roles, rely on each other, and achieve consensus?
- Using Higher Order Thinking Skills: does this project have students Applying, Analyzing, Evaluating and Creating? (Bloom's Revised Taxonomy) Remember, the more students are engaged in higher order thinking skills, the more they will be engaged in the lesson and the learning will have a greater impact.
- Technology: does this project make the best use of technology? Is technology used just for technology's sake or does it contribute to students demonstrating their knowledge in the best way possible?
3. If you aren't sure whether the project you're examining meets these criteria, ask a colleague to review the project with you!
4. These criteria will help you determine which parts of the pre-made project you might value and retain and which parts you would probably want to change to create a more engaging and rigorous project for your students.
