Need: I spy board printed off Click on the word to find a free printable.
Directions:
Think about your students targets.
Set in a rule to elicit the targets: i.e. if your student is working on categories, set the rule that they need to 'spy' 3 things that go together. If your student is working on describing play I Spy the usual way but have them tell you 2 things about the item.
Be specific! Name it and describe it. Unless you are planning on accepting any object that is similar to the object you have spied, it makes it less frustrating for the student and provides you an opportunity to expand their vocabulary. i,e. " I spy a big red ball next to a small turtle..." If you want to make it more difficult describe it differently like this "I spy an object that you can play catch with... that is round... it is the color red... and you can find it near a small turtle."
Winning the game: When you have successfully spied 10 items the game is over.
