Meet Mr. Sanville

Bryce Sanville is the Director of Orchestras for Hastings Public Schools, where he teaches students in grades 5–12 and oversees a comprehensive orchestra program serving more than 260 musicians. He is passionate about creating an engaging and supportive learning environment where students develop not only strong musical skills, but also confidence, leadership, collaboration, and a lifelong appreciation for music.

Mr. Sanville earned both his Bachelor of Music Education and his Masters of Education from the University of Wisconsin–Eau Claire. Prior to joining Hastings Public Schools, he taught orchestra in Sun Prairie School District, where he gained experience teaching 5th-8th grade string students while helping to grow and strengthen the orchestra program. During that time he was also the director of his grandfathers community orchestra, Dimensions in Sound and the Studio Orchestra (DISSO), as well as a frequent conductor of numerous musicals with Aligning Stars and Verona Community Theater. 

Since arriving in Hastings in 2024, Mr. Sanville has focused on expanding opportunities for students both inside and outside the classroom. He has introduced initiatives such as the Strings and Strides mentorship program, student leadership opportunities, and community engagement experiences that encourage students to grow as musicians while building meaningful connections with one another. His philosophy centers on creating an orchestra program where every student feels challenged, supported, and valued.

As a lifelong learner, Mr. Sanville is committed to continually refining his teaching through professional development, collaboration with fellow music educators, and the exploration of innovative instructional practices. He believes that every student can achieve success through consistent effort, curiosity, and a positive learning environment.

Outside of school, Mr. Sanville enjoys spending time with his wife and their growing family, playing golf, exploring new technology, and cheering on Wisconsin sports teams. He also enjoys gaming, traveling, and finding new ways to inspire students through music.

Mr. Sanville is excited to partner with Hastings families and looks forward to helping every student experience the joy, challenge, and sense of community that comes from being part of the orchestra program.
