ISB students have access to our Library databases and search tools. They give you access to many academic sources such as journal articles, conference papers, book chapters and more. Databases are a great place to start working on your research. Here are some of the databases you can use in the Primary School:
Britannica Fundamentals! is a specific PreK to grade 2 version of Britannica School. Real life pictures, examples, and diagrams are used to illustrate each topic and provide authenticity.
Britannica School is great starting point that allows you to clarify your understanding and make effective connections. There are levels for Primary students to choose from: Foundation (grade 2 to 5) and Intermediate (grade 5 to 8).
The school has a subscription to Britannica ImageQuest where you will find millions of rights-cleared images.
Fact Monster is an ideal and trustworthy reference site for students ages 8-14 that provides entertainment and educational resources. It is a reference site with facts on thousands of subjects, including sports, entertainment, geography, history, biography, education, and health.
Explora for Primary School offers content from children’s magazines, easy-to-read encyclopedia entries, and images. Students can learn about animals, musicians, fitness, space exploration, and much more.
All of the articles in the Simple English Wikipedia use shorter sentences and easier words and grammar than the regular English Wikipedia. This makes articles easier to understand and edit. If jargon must be used, editors may help provide an easy-to-understand definition.
EXPLORA offers an easy-to-use interface where students in grade 5 will find reliable information on a variety of topics.
What about Brainpop?
BrainPOP Jr. offers digital educational content for children in kindergarten through third grade. With over 250 topics, it gently encourages young learners to ask questions and form their own ideas.
