Good study notes are notes that effectively capture and summarise the key points and important details of a subject or topic. Here are 4 different options:
Outline Method
Cornell Method
Mind Map Method
Flow Method
Outline Method:
This approach allows you to see the overall structure of the information, as well as the relationships between different pieces of information:
Create an outline of the main topics and subtopics related to a subject
Fill in the details under each subtopic.
Cornell Method:
Divide the page into three sections:
The main note-taking section is used to capture information related to the subject being studied.
The cue column, located on the left-hand side of the page, is used to provide cues or prompts to recall the information in the main note-taking section.
The summary section, located at the bottom of the page, is used to summarize the main points and key information from the notes.
Mind Map Method:
start by writing the main topic in the center of a blank page.
branch out from the center with related ideas and subtopics, using lines, symbols, and images to connect them.
add supporting details and examples as needed, and continue to expand the map until all relevant ideas and information have been captured.
Flow Method:
The basic idea behind the Flow method of note-taking is to organize your notes in a way that reflects the natural flow of the information being presented. This involves using a combination of symbols, abbreviations, and keywords to capture the main ideas and supporting details as they are presented.
