At ISB, our Co-Curricular Activities (CCA) program is pivotal in enriching our students' educational journey. These activities extend beyond the regular curriculum, providing diverse opportunities for students to discover and nurture their interests and talents.
Skill Development: This component encourages students to explore and enhance various skills, ranging from academic societies to creative arts. Whether engaging in a Language Club, exploring a Tech Society, or participating in the Arts, students can delve into areas that resonate with their interests, fostering a deeper understanding and appreciation beyond the standard curriculum.
Physical Activity: Recognizing the importance of physical health, this aspect of our CCA program offers a variety of sports and physical activities. Catering to different skill levels and interests, these activities promote fitness and teach teamwork, discipline, and sportsmanship. Our dynamic sports program adapts to the seasons, ensuring diverse and engaging options throughout the year.
Volunteering/Service: At ISB, we emphasize the value of community service and social responsibility. Our volunteering and service initiatives allow students to connect with and contribute to the community. These experiences foster empathy, civic responsibility, and a sense of global citizenship as students learn the importance of giving back.
Outdoor Education: Our outdoor education activities provide students with unique, hands-on experiences in nature. These adventures, ranging from hiking to environmental projects, are designed to develop survival skills, environmental awareness, and a love for the outdoors. They challenge students to leave their comfort zones, promoting personal growth and resilience.
Development Phase (Middle School): As students' interests begin to solidify, they are given the opportunity to focus more deeply on specific areas while still having the flexibility to explore new avenues.
Commitment Phase (High School): High school students are expected to make a longer-term commitment to their chosen CCAs, deepening their engagement and mastery in these areas.
Our CCA program is designed to complement academic learning, fostering overall student development in a holistic manner. By participating in these varied activities, ISB students not only enhance their skills and knowledge but also develop essential life skills, preparing them for the challenges of the modern world.
The International School of Belgrade (ISB) is a proud Central and Eastern European Schools Association (CEESA) member. This association is a collaborative network of regional schools organizing various activities and athletic events. As part of CEESA, ISB students selected for teams can travel and engage with peers from other member schools in various competitions and events.
To qualify to represent ISB in these prestigious events, students must maintain good academic and social standing within our school community. ISB actively participates in events such as Speech and Debate, Knowledge Bowl, Model United Nations, Music Band, Soccer, Basketball, and Volleyball. These events provide invaluable experiences, allowing our students to interact with diverse cultures and create lasting memories. Many of these events are live-streamed, enabling parents and our school community to follow and support our teams remotely.
Detailed information about ISB's extracurricular program, including the latest CEESA event calendar, can be found on our parent portal. Regular updates are also provided in our weekly e-newsletter, The Dragon's Dispatch, particularly in the Activities section.
Commitment to a CEESA team or activity at ISB is taken seriously. Students are expected to fully engage in all scheduled practices and rehearsals, giving their best effort. If a student misses more than three sessions in a season or if their behavior fails to meet our expectations, they may be asked to discontinue their participation in that specific activity.
At the International School of Belgrade, we've reimagined the traditional student council concept into something more dynamic and inclusive: the Dragon Forum. This innovative platform is one of the most effective ways for our secondary students to influence and contribute positively to both the school and the broader community.
In the Dragon Forum model, leadership isn’t limited to elected representatives. Every ISB student is recognized as a 'Dragon Leader.' This approach empowers any student, regardless of their role or title, to take the initiative on projects they are passionate about. Whether it's a change they wish to see or an event they desire to organize, the Dragon Forum is their gateway to making it happen.
Students are encouraged to step forward if they have an idea or project in mind. The process is simple: prepare a presentation and bring it to a Dragon Forum meeting. Students can present their ideas in these meetings, receive feedback, and garner support. Senior Dragon Leaders are students committed to dedicating more time to leadership and providing guidance and assistance to help bring these ideas to life.
The path to becoming a Senior Dragon Leader is open for those inspired to invest more in leadership roles. This role involves greater decision-making involvement and guiding peers to realize their projects. We offer two dedicated CCAs for the Dragon Forum to foster this spirit of leadership and community improvement. First, there is the Dragon Forum CCA, which focuses on the political side of community involvement. Then there is the Event Management Club, which primarily focuses on organising ISB events (such as CEESA events and others).
The Dragon Forum is a testament to our belief in student-led initiative and leadership. It's more than just a forum; it's a movement that nurtures the leaders of tomorrow by providing them with real-world opportunities to lead today.
