The Articles of Confederation

Our first plan of government was known as the Articles of Confederation. Since, America was just controlled by Britain, the first form of government was very weak.

Below are the some of the weakness of the Articles of Confederation, and the problems that they caused.

Success of the Articles of Confederation

With a new government, people no longer had to stay east of the Appalachian Mountains.

So, the Northwest Ordinance was passed, allowing people to settle out west.

It set up a way to become a state.
