In 2024, Indian River Central School District received 400 Bleed Control Kits as part of a disaster preparedness initiative. These kits have since been placed throughout the district to provide access to bleeding control tools in the event of an extreme emergency. These kits include:

The American College of Surgeons has introduced a free online course called STOP THE BLEED® to educate people on how to effectively control bleeding during an emergency. This course covers basic measures like:
how to recognize life-threatening bleeding
how to pack a wound with gauze
how to apply compression to a bleeding wound
how to correctly apply a tourniquet
