Indian River Central School District centralized its educational operations in 1956, moving from the local school house model to a centralized district model: 5 K-3 local Elementary Schools (Antwerp, Philadelphia, Calcium, Evans Mills, Theresa) and 3 centralized school buildings (4-5 Intermediate, 6-8 Middle, 9-12 High School). The district's educational programing is geared toward developing productive, successful citizens through a broad range of activities and educational opportunities.
The District has over 360 acres of campus space, of which 53 acres are playing fields for a variety of sports and athletic activities.

The primary goal of the Indian River Central School District Interscholastic Athletic Program is to provide high quality educational experiences and promote individual growth through competition within a safe and healthy environment.
Nationwide studies have shown that students involved in extracurricular activities such as interscholastic sports, achieve better grades, manage their time more effectively, have less disciplinary problems and have better school attendance. It is the hope of the Indian River Board of Education and the Athletic Department that we meet the needs of the students who make the decision to become part of our Wolves Interscholastic Family. We as educators strive to promote physical, mental, social, emotional and moral development.
Our athletic program supports the academic mission and code of conduct of the Indian River Central School District. Students participating in our athletic program will have opportunities for developing life-long skills and experiences that are not always available during the course of the daily academic schedule.
Participation in our athletic program is a privilege granted to students who maintain academic eligibility and positive citizenship in school and community.
When families elect to participate in the Indian River sports program, they have committed themselves to certain responsibilities and obligations. This handbook has been prepared to be used as a reference by our student-athletes and parents/guardians in an effort to define responsibilities as they pertain to the rules and regulations, as well as the guidelines for participation in our interscholastic athletic program. These are governing principles intended to ensure the safety, physical, and emotional well-being of all student-athletes. Our program is governed by the established Commissioner of Education Regulations basic code for extra curricular activities along with the New York Public High School Athletic Association.
A fair river of the northland,
Gladly gave to us our name,
And as time records our history,
We will honor it with fame.
We are planting our traditions,
We’ll defend them valiantly,
Hand in hand, we are united,
Indian River, WE LOVE THEE.
