Welcome to class! Below you will find some helpful information regarding our course. Please browse through the links to find out more.
Grade 10-12. Prerequisite is Algebra 2 Trigonometry & Statistics or higher. Weighted Grade.
The Advanced Placement course in statistics introduces students to the major concepts and tools for collecting, analyzing, and drawing conclusions from data. Students who successfully complete the course and AP examination may receive college credit and/or a higher placement in college. This course is equivalent to one semester of a college statistics course. A graphing calculator is required (TI-84 or equivalent is recommended).NOTE: A TI-89 is not equipped with a statistics package.
A workbook fee will be charged.
Students who find success in this course are hard workers. They complete assignments in a timely manner and take the time to read the required material. This course has a lot more writing than a typical math course, for example, students need to justify their math calculations along with a paragraph explaining their findings. There are many different career choices that require a statistics course. If you are unsure about taking this course, do some research into the career of your choice to see if this is a good fit. This course will give a student a better understanding of statistics and what that will look like at the college level.
