We read chapters 6-8 of Secret Garden. Mary found a key to the secret garden and got inside!

In Grammar Town, we learned about phrases and clauses. Clauses have a subject and a predicate.
We read chapters 3 and 4 of Secret Garden. We explored unknown vocabulary and analyzed the text.
We also were excited to switch seats.

In Grammar Town, the students continued practicing parts of speech and parts of a sentence.
We started reading, The Secret Garden"!

In Grammar Town, the students learned about linking verb predicates and worked on finding subject complements in a sentence.
We held a Socratic Seminar over the story "The Old Man and his Affectionate Son"
The students explored Breakout Edu. They are working on creating their own!

In Grammar Town, we continued to look for action verb predicates. The students also learned about direct and indirect objects in a sentence.
We worked on a character analysis strategy, STEAL., using the well-known text. "The Cat and the Hat."
We applied what we learned about character traits to our story, "The Old Man and his Affectionate Son",

In Grammar Town, learned about the parts of a sentence. We focused on identifying action verb predicates.
We worked on solving the "Case of Grumpy Ghost" It was tricky, but we worked together to solve the case!

In Grammar Town, we learned about Interjections. Yes! An interjection is an emotion word.
After reading "Lenny's Red Letter Day", we discussed the origins of the saying red letter day and wrote a narrative piece about our own red letter day.
