Professional Standards & Operational Compliance

At Indigo Roots Medical Academy, Inc., we believe that how a scholar presents themselves is a direct reflection of their respect for the healing arts and the community they serve. Our dress code is designed to instill Executive Presence, discipline, and clinical readiness.

The Uniform of Excellence

Every scholar is an ambassador of the IRMA pipeline. Adherence to the following standards is mandatory for all daily operations.

1. The White Coat: The Universal Standard

The white laboratory coat is the hallmark of the IRMA scholar. A clean, pressed white coat must be worn over the scholar’s attire at all times while on campus. It serves as a symbol of our shared commitment to science, safety, and professional authority.

2. Daily Professional Attire (Mon, Tue, Wed, Fri)

On these days, scholars are required to wear "Sunday Best" Business Professional attire. This standard is designed to prepare scholars for the social capital required in medical boardrooms and professional networking environments.

• Note: Denim is only permitted on designated "Jeans-for-Dreams" Fridays as part of our community scholarship fundraising.

3. Clinical Scrubs (Thursday Only)

Thursdays are strictly reserved for Clinical Science and Laboratory (CHE) Days. Scholars must wear professional clinical scrubs to facilitate hands-on medical immersion and laboratory safety.

4. The Badge System

Identification is a critical component of medical security and hierarchy.

• Phase Identification: All scholars must display their Phase-specific badges.

• Clinical Status: Upon advancing to Semester 2 (Immersion), badges are updated to reflect "Clinical Status," signaling the scholar’s advancement in the medical pipeline.

Prohibited Attire (Compliance Standards)

To maintain a professional academic environment, the following items are NOT permitted on campus:

• Headwear: Hats (except for documented religious observances) or decorative headbands (e.g., animal ears, costumes).

• Eyewear: Sunglasses (permitted during outdoor recess only).

• Casual Wear: Baggy pants/shorts, sweatpants, or corduroy pants.

• Distressed Clothing: Any items with rips, tears, or intentional distressing.

• Inappropriate Cuts: Low-cut tops, midriff-baring shirts, or spaghetti-strap blouses.

• Athletic Wear: Stretch pants or leggings (unless worn as a base layer under an approved professional dress or skirt).

• Denim: Denim pants are prohibited outside of designated "Jeans-for-Dreams" events.

The IRMA Standard

Scholars found out of compliance with the Uniform of Excellence may be asked to contact home for a change of attire before re-entering the laboratory or classroom. Excellence begins with how we present ourselves to the world.
