All Region Orchestra North

KYLE MILLER is the Orchestra Director at Avon Middle School South in Avon, IN. He moved to this position in 2022 and led the orchestras to Gold ratings at ISSMA contest. Prior to moving to the Indianapolis area, Kyle taught at  Pierre Moran Middle School and was the Assistant Orchestra Director at Elkhart High School in Elkhart, IN. The Pierre Moran Middle School Orchestras have received consistent Gold Ratings “With Distinction” at ISSMA Festivals, and Elkhart High School has made Indiana Orchestra State Finals appearances several years while he was in Elkhart.  

Kyle has been a clinician and presenter for the Indiana Music Education Association (IMEA) Professional Development Conference, Conn-Selmer Institute, and the Linda Luebke Strings Festival. He has conducted the Indiana All Region Honor Orchestra, the Elkhart County Youth Honors Concert Orchestra at Goshen College for four years and has conducted the Middle Tennessee State 7-8 Honors Orchestra.  Kyle is also an active cellist, playing in the Hendricks Symphony and formerly in the Elkhart County Symphony. He serves as treasurer for the State Chapter of the American String Teacher’s Association and is an active member of IMEA. 

Kyle has also worked as a Professional Learning Community team leader, on School Improvement Teams, School Leadership Team and the PRIDE Team to help improve school culture and community. In 2015, he was award the Indiana ASTA “New Teacher of the Year,” the “Michiana Outstanding Music Educator Award” from Quinlan and Fabish music company in 2017, was named “Teacher of the Year” for Pierre Moran Middle School in 2018 and was the Indiana ASTA “Middle School Teacher of the Year” for the 2019-2020 School Year.

MARGARET HITE is an Associate Director of Orchestras at Carmel High School. She has been recognized by the Indiana chapter of the American String Teachers Association as the 2013-2014 New Teacher of the Year. Originally from Anderson, IN, Ms. Hite attended the Indiana University Jacobs School of Music, where she completed a Bachelor of Music Education. Ms. Hite studied string pedagogy with Dr. Brenda Brenner and Mimi Zweig. While living in Bloomington, Ms. Hite was able to coach violin sectionals as part of the Musical Arts Youth Orchestra and volunteer as an instructor for the Fairview Violin Project, a pilot musical outreach program providing violin instruction to elementary school students.

As a violinist, Ms. Hite has played with the Muncie Symphony Orchestra and held a leadership position with the Bloomington Symphony Orchestra. In the Indiana University orchestras, she enjoyed working with such renowned musicians as Leonard Slatkin, David Effron, Cliff Colnot, and Arthur Fagen. She’s currently the principal second violinist in the Fishers’ Chamber Orchestra and enjoys playing violin around the Carmel and Indianapolis communities.

Ms. Hite’s violin teachers include Sherry Kloss, former teaching assistant of Jascha Heifetz, Federico Agostini, formerly of Indiana University, and early violin studies with Ms. Beverly Scott.
