Junior High All-Region Orchestra
The Indiana ASTA Junior High All-Region Orchestra is an event for middle/junior high school students with at least one year of playing experience in an orchestra program (an orchestra program being defined as a public/private school program or an independent youth orchestra organization. Including rehearsals and performance the event runs approximately 8:30 AM to 5:30 PM. Two levels of ensembles are included. The Vivace level is for students comfortable playing grade 2 to grade 3 music and the Allegro level for students comfortable playing grade 1 to 2 music. There is a per-student fee paid to INASTA by each participating program. All-Region Orchestra is NOT for beginning students and is not for students without ensemble experience.
Directors nominate/register accomplished student musicians in September. Directors should nominate balanced instrumentation to help ensure the All Region Orchestras are roughly balanced. Each participating program will have a representative number of registrations based on 7th and 8th grade enrollment in the program. For logistic needs, All Region Ensembles are capped at 75 students per ensemble. If cuts are necessary, they will be made proportionally by program enrollment.
Directors enter the student's information via the google form link on their corresponding site. This link will also be sent via membership email. Junior High School directors should use the link located below, to determine which region your school falls into. The google form will ask the same questions as the Student Application form, however, this will allow directors more time to collect and to get the information to the correct site host in an efficient manner. 2025 All Region Registration - Directors will enter students registrations in the google sheet. Please refer to the Junior High All Region Placement Rubric for guidance as to which ensemble will best suit each student.
