The long term monitoring of Bonacccia and Clara

• Mussels from 2 offshore oil and gas platforms, Clara and Bonaccia, in the Adriatic Sea, were collected

• The Mussels were collected from close to and far from each of the platforms anode, as well as a control site, in Senigallia

• 2 sampling periods of September and March

• The mussels were dissected for biomarker analysis

1. Genotoxic damage biomarkers:

   • Metallothionein gene expression

2. Oxydative stress biomarkers:

   • Catalase Activity

   • Neutral Lipids

   • Lipofuscin
