The first week of your internship will include a design thinking intensive. This training week will run every morning during the first week of the program, and is an essential part of the Summer Internship experience. You will learn about the SCD taxonomy, the HCD mindsets, and how we can apply these tools and skills to solve real-world problems.
Following the bootcamp, you will be placed on one (or more) project(s) for the course of the internship. These projects will be led by members of the SCD team, and may include campus partners. The goal of these projects is to use human-centered design to solve problems by addressing the unmet needs of a population. Some projects may pick up from work done during the year, or continue into the following semester to be implemented.
An important element of assessing the effectiveness of the internship program is gaining feedback from the interns throughout the experience. We will ask interns to take part in a pre- and post- survey, as well as reflection activities, where we can learn more about your development of HCD mindsets through the work with SCD; consent will be requested to use your feedback in research publications.
