Interns will take a hands-on role in crafting and refining workshop content while actively delivering engaging presentations, with a strong potential for transitioning into Workshop Leads and Teaching Assistant positions at the Siebel Center for Design in the 24-25 academic year based on their performance and contributions. Interns will also help with reimagining human-centered design content for K-12 field trips and developing comprehensive materials for an educational toolkit to empower K-12 educators in integrating human-centered design principles into their teaching practices.
Interns working on programming projects include helping build systems to improve guest experiences, developing a “menu” of resources at SCD, creating training guides for the Concierge team, and producing a video series that highlights “HCD in Action”. Content creators and social media producers on the team will develop a guide that includes best practices for social media posting, content gathering, and engagement techniques, providing examples and templates for creating engaging content across various platforms like Instagram & TikTok.
Graphic design interns will work with the SCD team to develop a look and theme for the upcoming year, which will be applied and introduced through our Annual Report. This project will start with an update of the brand standards and finalizing a theme for the year, then interns will start to implement that theme across design assets and materials.
Our Assessment and Research team will gain experience with data analysis, developing theoretical frameworks, and automating the analysis of feedback in a series of projects that continue the work of data collection activities over the past two years. Data has been collected from groups working on projects that bring together Human-Centered Design, science and artificial intelligence, students in a material sciences capstone course, K-12 and Higher Education teachers, and participants in SCD workshops and seminars.
Shop interns will help evaluate the user experience in the SCD lab spaces, then implement improvements. This will include designing a flexible workshops space in the lower lobby of the building, planning and piloting a series of workshop trainings, and reviewing the digital systems used by both guests and staff members.
