We primarily use Slack for communication with members of the SCD team, and email (Outlook or Gmail) for communicating with outside contacts. Feel free to reach out to anyone through a direct chat in Slack, in one of your project channels, or on one of the SCD team channels.
If you have been given an hourly appointment (undergrad or grad hourly), you will log hours on Time Tracker; you will be given a demo on using Time Tracker during your first week. If you are in a graduate assistantship appointment, you do not need to track your hours or submit timesheets.
All interns will have flexibility in their schedule, and will work with their project leads to determine hours and availability, which will inform how much work you are assigned. Interns on hourly appointments may work up to 40 hours a week if they are not enrolled in any summer courses during either session. If you are enrolled in any courses over summer, you may work up to 28 hours a week, or 20 hours a week if you are an international student.
You should not work overtime during your summer internship. However, if you think you may go over 40 hours in a week, you should immediately discuss it with your project lead to reallocate tasks and avoid having you work overtime if possible. If overtime cannot be avoided, you must get permission from your project lead before working any overtime hours.
