Bachelor of Islamic Revealed Knowledge and Heritage in Qur'an and Sunnah Studies (Honours)
Department of Qurʾān and Sunnah Studies is entrusted to offer undergraduate programme; Bachelor of Islamic Revealed Knowledge and Heritage (Qurʾān and Sunnah Studies). Given the integration of Islamic values with the curriculum as the main thrust of its methods of teaching and learning, this programme is therefore in harmony with the country’s investment to produce human capitals that are not only professional in their relevant fields, but also capable of realizing the national aspiration for the formation of knowledge-based society. Having used English and Arabic as its means of instruction, this programme is truly international in character and enables its graduates to represent Malaysia as an international hub for a world-class education.
Objective of the Programme
To produce graduates who have sound intellectual, religious, moral, psychological, and language competencies to manage the administration of Muslims’ socio-religious affairs; to apply the noble teachings of Islam as embodied in the Qurʾān and Sunnah of the Prophet (pbuh) in every aspect of the Muslim life and activities; and to address the whole spectrum of realities and challenges facing the Muslim Community today. The programme is designed based on the rationale that the administration of Muslim socio-religious affairs and institutions requires professional human resources with the above stated characteristics. The Department is confident that this programme is able to achieve this objective by offering an alternative curriculum with the integration of both traditional and modern approaches towards Islamic sciences.
Programme Delivery and Methodology
The full time programme would normally require 4 years (8 semesters) to complete. The maximum period allowed for the completion of the programme is 6 years (12 semesters).The methodology used in the programme includes lectures, coursework, examinations, paper presentations, article and book reviews, consultations and internship. Field studies and surveys are also required wherever applicable.
Programme Structure and Course Distribution
The core areas that are important in the field of Qur’an and Sunnah Studies are knowledge about the general and practical methods applied in Islamic studies disciplines, theoretical and practical methods in dealing with the texts of the Qur’an and Prophetic traditions (aḥādith), creative thinking skills, and analytical approach to textual reading of classical and modern literatures related to Qur’an and Sunnah Studies. All core courses meant for specialization in Qurʾān and Sunnah Studies are offered in Arabic, while Courses are offered in both Arabic and English. Students have to complete 132 Credit Hours as graduating requirement.

All core courses meant for specialization in Qurʾān and Sunnah Studies are offered in Arabic, while Courses are offered in both Arabic and English. Students have to complete 128 Credit Hours as graduating requirement.
