The International Conference on Fundamental and Indistrial Research on Materials (or iConFIRM, for short) will be held in IIT Ropar from December 11th to 14th, 2023. The four day extravaganza starts off with a workshop on damage modelling on 11th December 2023, followed by three exciting days of research talks from 12th-14th December, 2023. This conference aims to bring together leading researchers, students and industry under one umbrella with the goal of fostering meaningful discussion and collaborations.

About the Department
About the Department
iConFIRM is the signature conference organized by the Department of Metallurgical and Materials Engineering on alternate years, with the inaugural conference planned in December 2023.
The Department is one of the youngest on Campus, having started in November 2017. Despite the recent vintage, we have developed strong expertise in a variety of key areas of Metallurgical and Materials Engineering. The thrust areas include - (a) Advanced Steels and Structural Materials, (b) Materials for extreme environments and defense applications, (c) Nanomaterials, (d) Energy Materials, (e) Biomaterials and (f) Recycling of Rare-Earths and strategic materials.
