Design and Development of Advanced High-strength Steel for Enhanced Performance in Aero-engine Gears
Ongoing
Funding: DRDO, Govt. of India
Duration: 2026 – 2029
Design of industrially viable advanced-high strength steel with superior mechanical properties and microstructural stability for aerospace applications.
Design and Development of Wear Resistant 3rd Generation Advanced High-strength Steels
Ongoing
Funding: IIT Jodhpur Seed Grant
Duration: 2024 – 2027
Growing demand for materials/minerals requires durable steel components capable of resisting abrasive wear during mineral processing and/or materials handling. Conventional wear-resistant steels have their limitations, causing a significant industrial economic losses. Our research focuses on development of advanced high strength steels, which exhibit superior wear resistance, toughness, and self-strengthening mechanisms under impact and low-load conditions.
Investigation of Weldability and Hydrogen Embrittlement Phenomenon in High-strength Bainitic Steel
Completed
Funding: SERB (presently ANRF), Govt. of India
Duration: 2022 – 2024
It focused on understanding weldability and hydrogen embrittlement issues, particularly in the heat-affected zone, and aimed to establish correlations between microstructure, hydrogen trapping, and damage mechanisms to enable reliable large-scale applications of bainitic steels.
