Project 16

Application of X-rays in Archeology

In this project, we first learn about some of the X-ray techniques such as radiography, tomography, fluorescence (XRF), and diffraction (XRD) for nondestructive investigations of archaeological objects. We then use one or more of these techniques to learn as much possible about an ancient object, for example, a heavily soil covered roman coin, and utilize available records to identify it.
