As promised, on the auspicious occasion of Agomoni 2024 at IISER Berhampur, we are back with the topics and rules of our photography competition "CHOTUSHKONE" to celebrate and put light into golden era of Bengal's film and literature. "বাংলার স্বর্ণযুগ"(THE GOLDEN ERA OF BENGAL) is packed with remarkable films, poems, and songs. Travel into the golden era and capture the essence through your lens.
Themes:
1. "পথের পাঁচালী" (Pother Panchali) (Street Photography):
In every fleeting face and corner, the street tells a thousand untold tales.
2. "একদিন প্রতিদিন" (Ekdin Protidin) (Daily Life):
Ordinary moments, woven together, create the extraordinary rhythm of life.
3. "তাসের দেশ" (Taasher Desh) (Satirical Picture):
In a world of cards, the fragile kingdoms fall with a gust of truth.
4. "সোনার কেল্লা" (Shonar Kella) (Architecture):
Through the stone walls of time, history whispers its golden secrets.
5. "মেঘে ঢাকা তারা" (Meghe Dhaka Tara) (Nature):
Beneath the veil of clouds, nature hums its ancient, untouchable song.
“PRATIDWANDI”
Are you ready to outsmart, outplay, and outlast your opponents? Step into the mind-bending arena of ‘Pratidwandi’, where you battle out the genius minds and reach the epitome of brilliance. As we approach the joyous occasion of Agomoni 24', we are excited to announce an event that will blend the spirit of festivity with the thrill of strategy – Pratidwandi , which is our chess competition to be held online.
The event would take place on lichess.org, so you need to have an account on that particular platform. The tournament will be a blitz tournament with arena format. The further details of the event are mentioned below. We expect your grand participation to make the event successful. Even if you aren't participating, you can still enjoy great minds battling, through monitoring the matches on lichess.
Rules:
1.The tournament will be conducted on lichess.org platform. So the participants are requested to make their own lichess accounts.
2. Participants also need to join the team to participate in the tournament (The link will be sent).
3.The time control is 5+3. 5 minutes total time with 3-second increments.
4.The tournament will be arena format, i.e. , during the tournament you can be paired with any opponent who has similar rating and winning/losing streak.
5.Any opponents found cheating will be immediately disqualified as per lichess' cheat detection system.
“AMI CHEYE CHEYE DEKHI SARADIN”
Here we are announcing a special event named as "আমি চেয়ে চেয়ে দেখি সারাদিন " (Ami Cheye Cheye Dekhi Saradin),an art exhibition that will add an artistic twist to our celebrations which will be organized in the boys hostel lobby of the permanent campus from 21-22 Sep.
Themes:
1] Women Empowerment- explores the strength, resilience, and diverse experiences of women through various artistic mediums.
2 ]Durga Across Cultures- Celebrating Maa Durga over various cultures through different art forms across India.
3] Life Under the Street Lamp- reflecting the regular street life of commoners across on their living
4] Screen to Sketch- A cinematic 'retrouvaille'- explores by translating cinematic moments into sketches.
5] Myth and Modernity- connecting Indian Mythology with our social life and its evolution with time.
"CHOBI BISWAS"
"Wait, wait you don't need to be born in Bengal or understand Bengali to get a taste of Bengali films. Films are for everyone regardless of the language and cult. Keeping that in mind Team Agomoni has decided to bring forward a heartful 'Chawlochitro prodorshoni' (Film Screening). And of course, it isn't possible without our respected Film club 'Chitrakatha'.

Ray: Na na! They...the backward audiences are just arbitrarily playing with my creations for the last 30 years. Leave me, please!
Organizers: Manik babu actually you're a safe card. People' can't argue.

1. Goal Posts: Short goal post rules
2. Out-of-Bounds: No throws, only sidekicks
3. Penalty: From one goal post to another

7. Match Duration: 20-minute game (10-minute halves)

The wait is over! It’s time for Agomoni, one of the most joyous festivals of IISER BERHAMPUR. Presenting “Gyaner Unmesh”, the quizzing event of Agomoni ’24. So, bring up your ‘Mogojostro’ and join the battle of wits.
The event details are as follows:
Date: 22nd September 2024
Venue: Academic Building (Block 2), Ground Floor
Timing: 4 PM-7 PM
The topic of the quiz is 'General knowledge', and the winners will get exciting rewards.
This event is open to students from all batches. You can make a group of a maximum of four individuals. Solo participation is also encouraged.
Make sure to bring your own weapons. Oops! Your own pens. Sheets will be provided at the venue.
Team leaders are requested to fill out the Google form linked below on behalf of their teams by September 21 at 11:59 PM. Spot registration will be available as well.
So, gather your squad, sharpen those minds, and get ready for a thrilling event of quizzing. Whether you are a trivia master or just in it for the laughs, there’s something for everyone!
