Epic is traditionally a genre of poetry, known as epic poetry. Epic is often extended to other art forms, such as epic films or epic music.
Epic Music has its origins in the soundtracks of blockbuster movie trailers. Featuring big, emotional, powerfully melodic productions, many of which mix orchestra, choir, large percussion and synth elements. Epic music creates a sense of heroism and grandeur, and we think of noble destinies or awaiting adventures.
You can start to this genre with masterpieces like Now We Are Free, the original soundtrack of Gladiator, or Main Title, the opening song of the latest hit HBO series Game of Thrones.
A list with the most famous composers of Epic Music includes Alexandre Desplat, Howard Shore, Hans Zimmer, James Newton Howard, Ramin Djawadi, James Horner, John Williams, Danny Elfman, Steve Jablonsky, Alan Silvestri...
But not only do composers profit from this genre. Do you know that Epic Music Channels on Youtube are a booming business?
