BIOGRAPHY
Founded in Rotterdam in 2024, the Nemea Quartet is made up of young Spanish musicians who currently carry out their artistic activity in the Netherlands: Jaime Arsenio Gómez Pomar (violin I), Carla Meléndez Ledezma (violin II), Elena Suárez Franco (viola), and Lucía Pérez Dezcallar (cello).
In Rotterdam—the quartet’s home since 2024—they have received coaching from their mentors and professors Gordan Nikolić, Eva Stegeman, and Joachim Eijlander.
The quartet has also received artistic guidance from violinist Marc Danel (Danel Quartet) and has taken part in masterclasses at the Netherlands String Quartet Academy (NSKA) with renowned performers such as Dennis Brott, Yovan Markovitch, Gilles Millet, Pierre Colombet, Judith van Driel, Gerhard Schulz, and Stefan Metz, contributing to the development of an artistic identity marked by sonic cohesion, expressiveness, and a deep commitment to the repertoire.
Despite its recent foundation, the Nemea Quartet has already developed an intense artistic and educational activity. They made their ensemble debut in the Talent Break series organized by Codarts – University of the Arts in Rotterdam, where they are currently pursuing master’s studies in performance. Since then, they have given concerts in venues such as the Jurriaanse Zaal at de Doelen, the Heerenhuyskamerconcerten at Het Park (Rotterdam), and in the municipality of Mijas (Málaga), in addition to participating in the chamber music course at Fame’s Institute in North Macedonia.
The quartet continues to expand its repertoire and strengthen its presence on the European musical scene, with a particular focus on chamber music from the Baroque period to today’s contemporary landscape.
