JORGE PASTOR SÁNCHEZ
BIOGRAPHY
He began his musical studies at the age of three with the violin and, at nine, decided to specialise in the viola at the Mestre Tárrega Conservatory in Castellón, where he completed his professional music studies.
At the age of fifteen, he joined the Jove Orquestra de Castelló (JOSC), remaining a member for six years. During this period, he performed demanding symphonic repertoire and toured Spain, France, and Italy under the direction of conductors including Pablo Marqués, Fausto Fungaroli, José Luis López Antón, and Marcel Ortega i Martí.
In 2019, he began collaborating with the Baroque Orchestra of the Conservatori Superior de Música de Castelló, conducted by Ángel Sampedro, with which he performed regularly for two years. At the same time, he completed one year of undergraduate studies in Historical Performance, specialising in viola under the guidance of Dr María Teresa Casanova Sánchez de Vega.
In 2020, he was admitted to Codarts University of the Arts in Rotterdam, where he completed his Bachelor of Music in Viola Performance with Julia Dinerstein. During his time in the Netherlands, he has collaborated with ensembles including the DoelenEnsemble, the Marine Band of the Royal Netherlands Navy, and the Utrecht Young Orchestra (UYO).
He has also participated in masterclasses with distinguished violists such as Marc Sabbah, Mikhail Kugel, Michal Zemtsov, and Garth Knox.
He is currently pursuing a Master of Music in Viola Performance at Codarts University of the Arts under the guidance of Roman Spitzer, Principal Viola of the Rotterdam Philharmonic Orchestra.
