BIOGRAPHY
Elena Suárez Franco is a violist with a strong background in orchestral and chamber music. She is currently pursuing her Master’s degree in viola performance at Codarts – University of the Arts in Rotterdam, studying with Julia Dinerstein and Veronika Lénartová, and receiving artistic mentorship from Marc Sabbah. Her research focuses on the imitation of the human voice in string instruments, earning top marks in the first cycle of her master’s program.
She graduated with honours in viola performance from the Conservatorio Superior de Música Victoria Eugenia (Granada), and completed an Erasmus exchange at the Hochschule für Musik Freiburg, where she studied with Wolfram Christ and Raphael Sachs.
Elena has performed with the Youth Orchestra of Andalusia (2018–2023), the Barenboim-Said Foundation Orchestra, and the Freiburg Hochschule Orchestra, under the baton of conductors such as Pablo Heras-Casado, Pedro Halffter, and Scott Sandmeier.
In chamber music, she has been accepted into the Netherlands String Quartet Academy (NSKA) (2024–2026) as a member of both the Aurum Quartet and the Nemea Quartet, working with Marc Danel, Denis Brott and Yovan Markovitch, and performing in venues such as de Doelen (Rotterdam) and Heerenhuyskamerconcerten. She has also taken part in chamber music cycles of the Barenboim-Said Academy, receiving instruction from Pavel Gomziakov and Liana Gourdjia.
