Seed scattering - July 2026
Volunteers scattered yellow rattle seed across parts of High Leasowes shortly after the grass had been cut for haylage. Yellow rattle now seems to be well established in much of the meadow, so we sowed seed in the areas where it was not prolific. Yellow rattle is known as the 'meadow maker' because it takes energy from the root of coarser grasses, thereby weakening them and allowing meadow flowers to thrive amongst the grass.
