Bird watching - April 2026
A group of 19 birdwatchers spent an enjoyable couple of hours bird watching with Pete Carty and learning how to identiy birds by song as well as by sight. Most of the group carried onto Jemima's for an excellent breakfast - and to warm up - afterwards.

New bench - March 2026
Thanks to the generosity of two donors we have now installed an additional bench at High Leasowes. This one is situated at the northen end and provides lovely views for visitors. Thank you Jill and Cathy!
Dead-hedging & brash tidying March 2026
Work parties have been tackling the brash from a large ash tree that was pollarded. Some of this has gone into the sunken lane as a habitat heap and the rest is being made into another dead-hedge. It all forms great habitat.
Dead-hedging - February 2026
A number of work parties have tidied away all the cut timber from one of the pollarded ash trees by creating a dead-hedge near the pond. This looks great and provides useful habitat. Wrens, mice, toads, beetles and butterflies are just some of the multitude of creatures that might make use of this wildlife corridor.
Tree Surgery - February 2026
Tree surgeon James Cox had the unenviable job of pollarding two badly diseased ash trees that were suffering from ash dieback. He also carried out further pruning to other trees in accordance with a tree safety check that we had commissioned.
Tree planting - January 2026
We lost about 150 young trees last year due to the heat and drought of that scorching summer.
This month twenty volunteers spent a busy morning planting replacement saplings, which were generously funded by our supporters. Many thanks to both volunteers and donors!
