THE CHRISTMAS PUDDING
The actual celebration, in English homes, is December 25th, when the gifts are opened, then everyone sits at the table for the traditional lunch consisting of turkey stuffed with blueberry sauce, mashed potatoes and Christmas Pudding, where a hidden chocolate coin will make whoever finds it in their slice lucky.
Christmas pudding is a rich and delicious dessert typical of the English Christmas tradition, prepared with dried fruit, rum, cinnamon, candied fruit, raisins and breadcrumbs. It is said that it must contain 12 ingredients, like the apostles, and that a coin can be hidden inside, a good omen for those who find it in their portion. Custom dictates that it is prepared during the Advent period and enjoyed at the end of the Christmas lunch. It is usually decorated with holly which you can replace with a sprig of currants, as in our version, or with a chocolate icing, for an even more delicious result.
