T.A.Bs and Checkmarks

T.A.Bs are Take A Breaks, which are issued when a student needs to have a minute or two to get their behavior, attitude, or mindset back on track. Students can request to take a break, or at times they will be instructed to take one. In this case, it is not optional because their behavior has been out of line with class rules, core values/virtues, or has been disruptive to the class. While TABbing out of the classroom, the students will have time to reflect, pray, and do some exercises to get back on track. It is not meant to be a punishment, just a behavioral management tool.

Checkmarks are given for a repeated behavior that is in violation of the class rules, or core values/virtues. In 4th grade, the students will be getting used to the new terminology of a "checkmark" while still using the expectation form/core value sheets that they are used to filling out for not following expectations.

After 1 check mark, I will keep their core value sheet. After 2 check marks I will make contact with a parent to inform them of the behavior and send home the second core value sheet to be signed. After 3, I will make contact again with a 3rd core value sheet and possibly schedule a meeting to discuss the behavior in order to come up with a strategy for improvement. The final sheet will be signed by myself, the parents, and Mrs. Bona (principal) or Mrs. Wallrich (assistant principal).

If you have questions on this classroom policy, please let me know!
