I want to welcome all the first grade students and their families to the 2025-26 school year. I look forward to helping students learn to read more fluently this year with the help of their Believe and Read lessons and find joy in reading with their Language Arts classes.
Of course we will focus on math as well, with addition and subtraction strategies like counting on, base 10, and adding doubles, which help the students develop kinesthetic understandings of math.
In Religion we will learn about what Catholics believe, how we worship, pray and live the Good News, as we seek to follow Jesus in our lives.
I will tell you a little about myself and I look forward to learning about you and your children. I started teaching at ICS in 2004 as the K-8 Art teacher. Later I taught middle school art and intervention with the elementary grades. Last year I taught 3rd grade, where we focused on multiplication and division as well as our Religion, Believe and Read, Language Arts, and Social Studies of the continents, cardinal directions, and geography.
