Pancake Day is a special dayin the United Kingdom. It is always in February on Tuesday. It is at the end of Carnival. It is also known as “ Shrove Tuesday”. On this day a lot of people eat pancakes. Pancake racing is a tradition in the United Kingdom on this day. People run in a race with a pancake in the pan. During the race they must throw the pancakes in the air three times.

ORIGINI DI QUESTA FESTA

Narra la leggenda che circa 500 anni fa una signora stava preparando pancake nella sua casa quando sentì lo scampanìo che richiamava in chiesa i fedeli. Corse fuori di casa affrettandosi per andare verso la chiesa indossando il grembiule e tenendo ancora in mano la padella con i pankake che stava cucinando. Siccome i pankake ancora bruciavano lei li faceva saltellare per aria per evitare di bruciarsi. Questa scena è rimasta famosa e ha dato inizio alla tradizione della pancake race, gara delle frittelle.
