Fish Eye View
by Bel Lagdameo
It is the supreme skeletal foundation of our species,
the steel current that runs through each facet joint
snapping yet soldering back as we stretch to our potential,
it is that innate ability that sets us apart from the brittle
It is the brittle that are born for our nourishment,
so do not flinch as we pollute each crevice and cavity
til limbs stun and suffocate in the clouds of our hunger,
open your ears to the sweeping debris inside their lung
Is it not the inherent intuition of our being
to cling onto this insatiable brutality?
which keeps us warm and plump
in a system that consumes the paltry
Is it not preservation and longevity,
the true monster in each of us?
so do not accuse me alone complicit
for tight shut are your eyes as you chew
