To make an image an animated style like the ones below, you will need to use Adobe Illustrator. Start by opening the .png of the plant, scale figure, etc of your choosing in Illustrator. Select the image using the 'selection tool', then near the top of your screen select the drop-down next to 'image trace' and select '16 colors'. After it runs you can export as a .png with File>Export>Export as, and be on your way! For more advanced editing, select 'expand' near the top of your screen. Then, in your layers menu, open the group that the image trace is in. Select only the first path in the group by clicking on the circle to the right of <path> then navigate to Select > Same > Fill Color. After they are selected group the paths together with Object > Group (or the keyboard shortcut command + g). Do this for all 16 color groups and then you have the ability to turn on and off and change whole groups of colors.
