In Maths we have been measuring, we have used blocks and we learnt that you can use a ruler to measure in centimetres. We also did adding up in Welsh!
In English we have been rhyming. We looked for rhyming words in a poem, we matched rhyming words, and we even made rhyming words in Fred's pond.
On Tuesday we walked to the library. The librarian read us a Winnie the Witch story, then we created a picture of a new hat for Winnie. We also chose a book to bring back to school.
On Thursday we went to Mass. Some of us read and Father Richard said we did a really good job.
We've all worked really hard this week!
In Literacy, we wrote a story with our new owl and tried really hard to remember our capital letters and full stops.
In Maths, we have added up two numbers and repeated our number bonds to 10 and 20. We've showed our counting using cards, beads and rolling dice. In Welsh, we've also been counting to 20 and saying our age.
I loved going outside to count animals when we started our new topic called 'Who lives here?'.
Mrs Denné said she was very proud of us when we sat so nicely waiting for our flu sprays, because the nurses also said we were a very polite class.
This week in Literacy we created our own owl ready for our stories next week. We thought about what they looked like, what they liked, and what their talents were.
My owl is good at computer games.
My owl is a super dancer.
We also thought about the White Owl's feelings, and role played this with a friend.
In Maths we have been estimating all week! We've used beads, Lego, stepping and jumping!
In RE we made paint brushes using God's wonderful natural things from outside, then we painted a picture.
I liked painting outside.
I enjoyed drawing my family using the iPad.
In Literacy, we have been sequencing the story of the Little White Owl this week, and we now know the story very well. We have also drawn pictures of where the owl could go and used interesting vocabulary to add detail.
In Maths we have been sorting odd and even numbers. We learned that you can always share even numbers with a friend. Mrs Denné even told us a secret to look at the number on the end, and if it is a 2, 4, 6, 8 or 0, then the number is even.
In RE, we talked about the important things that God created.
I liked drawing the picture in English.
I enjoyed drawing numbers in rice.
We have had another great week of learning!
In Literacy, we learnt how to make predictions about a new story and used inference to think carefully about how the owl might be feeling. We also talked about how people can feel different and shared our own ideas and experiences.
In Maths, we have been learning how to order and sequence numbers and we explained how we knew which number came next.
In RE, we enjoyed the weather and made our own bubble prayers. We thought about our wishes, thoughts and worries and imagined sending them to God.
We have enjoyed sharing our ideas and learning from each other this week!
We have had a fantastic start to the year and we have been really good at getting back into our school routines! We have sat beautifully in assemblies, worked together well, and completed our work when asked.
In literacy, we have been writing our own dinosaur stories, which was a little tricky, but we all showed resilience to complete it! In Maths, we have been practising counting, especially forwards and backwards in 2's. In RE, we discussed the Creation story and remembered it really well, and in PE we played hockey. We even had time for playing with crafts, construction, playdough, and in the café - such a busy week!
We have had a fun first week back at school. We have especially enjoyed playing in Cecilia's Café and the new Playdough area.
We all joined in and had fun doing some yoga as part of our daily exercise.
We have a class song which we performed brilliantly in Praise Assembly at the end of the day.
