The school annually takes part in the Urdd Eisteddfod stage and / or literary competitions for Welsh learners.
These are the poems we have written in Dosbarth Aur for the chairing of the Bard competition. Who will be Bard of Cwmclydach 2024?
The school organises Welsh trips e.g. to Llangrannog, Caerdydd, Glanllyn, Sain Ffagan etc to develop pupils use and enjoyment of Welsh.
Trips are planned in accordance with our class concepts for the term. We are about providing children with the best experiences at Cwm Clydach. Recently we have visited Fonmon Castle and Techniquest. Cardiff Castle, Swansea Museum, local farms and the beaches of Barry Island are firm favourite destinations for many of our learners.

We have worked with our local communityh to enhance our rugby skills!
The school occasionally invites Welsh speakers into the school.
This is Barry Lewis a Welsh artist speaking to Years 5 and 6 about his recent art work. We have regular Welsh visitors into school to build our children's aspirations and pride in being Welsh. These include;
Jenny Sullivan - A Welsh author who used our school and pupils as inspiration for her most recent book 'The School Owl'
The school organises an annual school Eisteddfod where all singing, recitation and homework compeitions are through the medium of Welsh.
Some KS2 pupils are members of the Urdd.
The Criw Cymraeg organise events to celebrate Dydd Gwyl Dewi, Diwrnod Shwmae etc.
At Cwm Clydach Primary School we celebrate Dydd Gwyl Dewi, Diwrnod Shwmae, Dydd Seren a Sbarc.
We also support the Welsh national team when we are able to.
We celebrated Seren a Sbarc Day on Friday 19th May. We all did lovely Welsh activities in class. In the afternoon, our Criw Cymraeg played Welsh games with us on the yard. We also had a Welsh themed disco on the yard.
There is an emphasis on Welsh when creating and selling products for enterprise activities e.g. bilingual Christmas cards, calendars, decorated cakes, decorations.

The school runs a lunchtime or after school Welsh club with a variety of activities.
We have an after school club called Clwb Chwarae where we play games through the medium of Welsh.
Mrs Johnson is setting up a lunch time Dawnsio Gwerin club for all learners to join if they wish. Our hope is to participate in any upcoming competitions.
The school choir learn Welsh songs to perform in concerts and competitions.
