The use of incidental Welsh outside of the classroom
Pupils use Welsh incidentally when expressing basic needs in the dinner hall eg. Ga i ginio rhost os gwelwch yn dda?
Criw Cymraeg and School council worked together to design new signs for our new Cafe@Cwm.
On the sign in the canteen is;
Ga i....
... osgwelwch yn dda.
Children are encouraged to use Welsh in all areas of the school.
Criw Cymraeg have an interative display in a communal area to promote the phrase of the week
Criw Cymraeg to work on one project to promote use of Welsh outside of the classroom e.g. fruit shop is run in Welsh, prepare a "bocs Cymraeg" for wet play / breakfast club/ prepare langauge posters for the dinner hall
It was one of our targets to develop Welsh during breakfast club last year. We discussed what could be put into the Bocs Cymraeg and made games to add. We introduced our new Bocs Cymraeg during assembly.
Phone calls are answered in Welsh and answerphone message is bilingual
Office staff ensure that the phones are always answered with a Welsh greeting e.g. Bore da, Prynhawn da, S'mae.
The school holds a themed Welsh afternoon e.g. Welsh rugby for developing the pupils language skills across a range of parctical activities e.g. ICT, craft, games etc
We have take part in lots of activities during our Eisteddfod celebrations to celebrate and enjoy our Welshness!
Duty staff model Welsh yard games
We celebrated Seren a Sbarc Day on Friday 19th May. We all did lovely Welsh activities in class. In the afternoon, our Criw Cymraeg played Welsh games with us on the yard. We also had a Welsh themed disco on the yard.

Pupils are always greeted in Welsh in the mornings and when seen during school times.
Children are encouraged to use good levels of Welsh throughout the day.
