Coding Devices Loan Scheme
To support the Welsh Government’s Cracking the Code strategy, Partneriaeth have a number of programmable coding devices are available to loan for a term.
These programmable devices will provide learners with the opportunity to develop their computational thinking and coding skills either during curriculum time or during extra- curricular activities i.e. Code Club. Partneriaeth also hope that this will enable schools to try equipment and evaluate their effectiveness before considering purchasing their own set of devices.
Full details of the equipment that is available and the borrowing terms can be found below.
Expectations from the schools that are loaned the devices are as follows:
• That the devices are used to develop learners' computational thinking and coding skills.
• That the devices are returned in good working order.
• That schools share any planning / resources / pupil work that they have developed to use with the devices.
• That schools complete a short evaluation form.

Equipment: Sphero 2.0
Age range suitable for: 8 to 11
Number of devices loaned: 6 Sphero devices and charging docks
What is needed to code the devices? iPad / Tynker app / Sphero Edu App
Equipment: Lego WeDo 2.0
Age range suitable for: 6 to 11
Number of devices loaned: 4 packs of Lego WeDo 2.0
What is needed to code the devices? iPad / Windows device or MacBook or Android device / Lego WeDo 2.0 App (Please note the device will need Bluetooth in order to program your creations.)
Equipment: Lego Mindstorm EV3
Age range suitable for: 10 to 16
Number of devices loaned: 3 packs of Lego Mindstorm EV3
What is needed to code the devices? iPad / Windows device or MacBook or Android device / Lego Education Programming App (Please note the device will need Bluetooth in order to program your creations)
Equipment: Edison Robots and EdCreate Sets
Age range suitable for: 7 to 14
Number of devices loaned: 12 x Edison Robots / 6 x EdCreate sets / Set of batteries
What is needed to code the devices? Laptop PC / iPad / Android device (Please note that the device will need to have a working headphone jack.)
Equipment: Mambo Parrot Drones
Age range suitable for: 8 to 14
Number of devices loaned: 6 x Mambo Parrot Drones / Rechargeable batteries
What is needed to code the devices? iPad / Tynker App / FreeFlight Mini app
