Each week, your child will be provided with a spelling list to practise based on their current spelling unit. This will be provided on their Google Classroom.

Home Reading Books

Every Monday, pupils are given a home reading book to read at home and return on Thursday. Books are then quarantined for a period of 72 hours before being re-distributed. In KS2, the books sent home correlate to book bands determined by the child's reading age. KS2 pupils can keep track of the amount of books read by completing their own personal reading log on Google Classroom. In Foundation Phase, the books sent home correlate with the pupils' Read Write Inc levels.

MyON

The platform personalises the reading experience by matching students reading level and interests to help find their next book.
Each pupil at Maendy has their own personal login to access the MyON platform. Pupils are encouraged to read on MyON during guided reading sessions in school, as well as regularly at home. Sometimes, pupils are set reading challenges to complete on MyON at home.
