What is the Value of Studying History?

There are four Units in the GCSE History course:
Unit 1 โ Wales during the period of the Civil War, 1603 โ c.1660
You will study Wales during the period of the Civil War between 1603 and around 1660, including the reign of James I, the factors that led to the Civil War, the importance of Wales in the conflict, the impact of the war on Wales, and the period from the Commonwealth through to the Restoration.
Unit 2 โ The Black Death, c.1330 โ c.1360: A Case Study of Society in the Middle Ages
For the non-examination assessment, learners will carry out a historical enquiry, presenting a response focused on the Black Death. Learners will complete the assessment digitally via the WJEC e-assessment platform.
Unit 3 โ Changes in American society, c.1880 โ c.1980
You will study society in the USA between around 1880 and 1980, focusing on themes such as race and immigration, the โRoaring Twentiesโ, civil rights and feminism.
Unit 4 โ Non-examination Assessment: A Changing Society
Working as a historian: you will evaluate a range of historical sources on a specific topic.
